thanks for checking in. As always, I hope you’re all safe and well and that everything is good with you!
So, lately I’ve been noticing a few things – and there’s one thing that has escalated since the start of this whole COVID-19 situation. I’m here to talk about that today.
Different people with different opinions
I think we can all agree that no matter where you are and who you’re talking to, you’ll always find something who doesn’t agree with you. It doesn’t matter what you’re talking about or what your opinions are, there will always be someone who disagrees with you – and isn’t that beautiful?
I’m a guy who expresses my opinion whenever I can – doesn’t matter if it’s in person, online on social media, on this page or wherever. I’m also a guy who want people to express their opinions because that’s how we learn.
Hearing the opinions of other fellow humans and learning from them is – in my opinion – the only way we can learn how to live together. You don’t have to agree, but you have to respect and accept that some people just don’t have the same opinions as you. I’m saying this knowing that some people will have some extreme thoughts and hate towards stuff like ideologies, religion, sports, life-stuff etc. I have strong opinions too – so who’s to say that I’m right?
As much as I accept other people’s opinion, I do not accept racism, sexism and extreme hate towards other people. Extreme hate meaning wanting to physically hurt people, which unfortunately is a growing thing in the world we live in.
So, the one thing that has escalated BIG TIME since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic is the fact that people now have a shorter fuse when it comes to accepting other people’s opinions. Honestly, not just opinions – but the growing hate between races and towards other religions has reached new heights this past year – one of the first triggers was the George Floyd and Black Lives Matters situation last year, which I talked about in another post – you can read it right here.
I feel – even in Denmark where I’m from, which is so far from the US and other places where things are in the shits (sorry about my language) – like that was the real turningpoint for the entire world.
BTW, I’m not kidding myself. I know racism has been a big part of the world since forever, but I feel like this really took it all to a new level of hate.
One of the truest signs of maturity is the ability to disagree with someone while still remaining respectful.Dave Willis
How dare you disagree with me?
The whole COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of negatives with it. Honestly, I can’t really think of anything positive this past year. Racism isn’t the only thing that has peaked – but it really does seem like people just got too much time between their hands and got bored.
People has now started to become “lawyers” and evangelists where nothing matters but their own opinion. Previously, people actually allowed other people to have their opinions on whatever and there’d be a higher possibility of people looking the other way when disagreeing about something. Heck, I almost fought a guy once because of football, but we ended up drinking a beer 10 minutes later (trying to lighten the mood a bit).
But now, people only allow you to disagree about something up until you disagree with THEM about something. And honestly, at this time it doesn’t matter if they know something about the subject or not. They might have read some bad news in an article and now they’re professionals and ready to fight you for it.
It basically comes down to everybody wanting to be right and I blame the fact that people have become more active on social media, they have more “bored” time to “research” stuff and create opinions and most importantly with everything that’s going on in the world we’re doomed to hate on each other and the world haven’t been more split than it is right now.
Wrapping it up
Bottom line is, that I could be wrong. This is my opinion and this is what I feel. I’ve lived in different countries and I’ve lived, worked and travelled with a lot of different people, cultures and believes. I don’t always agree with people – as a matter of fact, I’m trying my best every day to look the other way. The only reason why I react on something is because of comments that literally attacks other people because of their background, race and so on.
You don’t have to agree with me. You might think I’m one of them people who you’d like to disagree with – and feel free to. I want you to have your own thoughts and I want you to be able to express them and defend them without being hated on based on you as a person.
My hopes are that people will chill a little. The world is in a state we’ve never experienced it before. We need to stick together now and we can’t keep hating on each other just because we don’t accept things that are different from what we love, think, say and do.
So, step up and speak up. Do not let other people tell you what you can and cannot do and/or say. If you think like this, then my message here has been a success. If not, then that’s your call!
What do you think about this subject? Let me know in the comment section!
Take care and thanks again for checking in,
