Direct Flight!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for checking in.

So, about a month ago I got the news that a new airline would start to fly directly from my hometown, Aalborg in Denmark to Dublin, Ireland. Which is amazing news. It’ll be a direct flight, so no more connection in Amsterdam or Copenhagen. No more 4,5+ hours to get home. It would actually allow me to fly home for just a weekend – and it would allow my parents and friends to visit me more often, which would be amazing!

Great Dane Airlines

Is the name of the airline. Awesome name, isn’t it? It’s a Danish company (the name revealed that, I know) and their HQ is going to be in Aalborg.

You can find their website here: https://greatdaneairlines.dk/

They’ll start selling tickets tomorrow, March 5th and I’ll be there!

New Doors Opened

It’s no secret that I’ve been screaming and dreaming about this direct flight for almost 1,5 years now – ever since I moved to Dublin. Why? Because even though living abroad is amazing and I love living in Dublin – it’s no easy to only see your friends and family 3-4 times a year. As mentioned, if I could go home for just a weekend after work or only spent one holiday, it would be amazing. At the moment I spent at least 3-4 days every time.

I only have 20 days off a year, so you do the math.

Speedbumps

Unfortunately, yesterday I found out that one of the two founders of Great Dane Airlines committed fraud. Unfortunately, he’d put some stuff on his CV/Resume that he had no experience with, e.g. being CEO of another travel company.

Fortunately, this guy stepped down and left the company immediately, saying that it was best for both him and the company.

Plan B

I’ve always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to live in a place, where I could fly directly to home. If I’m ever going to settle down somewhere – that is one of the main criteria’s that I need. I’ve thought a lot about moving to Amsterdam – the flight is about 1h 20m and it’s direct. There are several flights every week which would make it a lot easier for me and everybody who wants to visit me.

Wrap Up

I’m not going to lie. I was and I am super excited with the news about the direct flight. I still believe that it will happen. I just need to see it happen. I believe in the project and I hope that I will be a regular user of Great Dane Airlines in the future.

If the project stands and actually adds a regular, direct flight from Dublin to Aalborg – I’m pretty sure I’m going to stay here for a while.

Thanks for reading guys!

Take care,

Junior out.
