Thanks for checking in!
For a long time, I tried to figure out what was best for everybody else. But a change of mindset has now left me to think about what’s best for me. Years ago, before I started travelling and moving around, all I cared about was what other’s thought of me.
You know the feeling of wanting to be the best you can be, but also can’t really be that person because other’s might not like it? Jealousy or even just pure hate, are some of the most common reasons why people don’t like you doing what you want to do – makes sense? If not, they don’t like that you do what you do, while they’re still trying to please somebody else.
You Don’t Have To…
… care about what other’s think of you. What matters is that you like who you are, and that you’re doing what you want – no matter what this or that person think of you.
It’s easy for me to say, you might think. And yes, it might be. But it wasn’t easy for me to say or even think, just 6-7 years ago. Trying to fit in everywhere. Trying to be friends with everyone. Trying to do only the things other’s wanted me to and not what I wanted. But as mentioned above, that has changed over the years.
What Did I Do?
If you’ve been following my blog or if you know me, you probably already know what I’m going to write here.
I’m going to write three things. And I’m going to list them, here. I… :
- … started to seriously think about what I wanted to do.
- … gave up and realised that I couldn’t make everybody happy – no matter how hard I tried.
- … travelled.
I’ve mentioned it so many times in my previous posts, but here we go again.
Travelling has allowed me to become a new version of myself. Not that I encourage you to change the person you are, but upgrade yourself to your own 2.0 – or even 1.5. Everything that’ll make your life better – in your own eyes.
You know what the best of it has been? By doing what I want, when I want, where I want – I’ve gained a lot more respect from people, rather than doing what they want, when they want, where they want. I’m doing what a lot of people are only dreaming off and I’m so proud of it.
If you’d asked me at age 15, if I ever thought I would be living this way by 26, I would’ve called you crazy. I’ve been living abroad for nearly two years. I’ve been doing exactly what I wanted to do. I’ve been moving to different countries if I wanted to. I’ve been exploring this wonderful World of ours.
And people respect me and admire me for it.
But I Would Never…
… tell you what to do with your life. I’m only here to tell you that the sooner you start thinking about yourself. The quicker you’ll be able to figure out what you really want.
If you’re out there reading this, no matter if you’re age 15 or age 70, start realising that there’s more to life than making other’s happy. If you’re happy, then it’s a lot easier for you to make other’s happy – naturally.
So, in the spirit of Nike: JUST DO IT!
I hope you’re getting inspired by some of the stories I bring here. I’m trying my best to enlighten people and tell everybody what they’ll gain from living abroad – even if it’s just for a few months.
It’ll give you some personal experiences and skills that you can use in the future. I can’t stress enough how important that is.
