Like for Like – Follow for Follow?

Hey guys!

Thank you for checking in.

Today I want to talk about something that I’ve been thinking about quite a lot since I started this blog – the mentality of following, liking, sharing, and commenting other bloggers posts, in other words, generating activity on other bloggers pages.

What is the reason for you to follow, like, share, or comment on another bloggers post? Is it because you hope that that person will do the same to you? That you will gain more activity by doing so? Or is it because you deeply want to follow this blogger because his/her posts?

Do you take into consideration how many followers the blogger already have or doesn’t it matter?

Myself, I try to at least go through the blogs that follow me and if I really like it, I will of course follow. I know that’s probably “cold hearted” – taken into consideration the saying “eye for an eye“, which of course mostly is negative, but couldn’t it be positive as well? Like, if you follow me, I follow you back? Is that the basic mentality of bloggers paradise or is it:

“They wanna see you do good, but not better than them” – Unknown.

This is a really quick post as I just wanted to get the question out there. Are we good enough to help each other get started, or at least give others credit for what they are doing, writing and sharing for us to read?

I’m far from the most popular blog, but of course an increased amount of followers/activity on would be greatly appreciated – I think a changed mentality is the right way to go.

What do you think about the subject?

I would really like to hear what you’ve got to say so feel free to comment on the post so I can get a feel of the mentality in here! Oh yea, and if you like it – I’m not gonna stop you from following me 😉

Have an awesome day, guys – thanks for reading!

  1. [ Smiles ] Great topic, Junior!
In my case, I would only press the “Like” button underneath the blog post that I am interested in.
In reality, we cannot follow everyone who follows our blog, because it is almost impossible to visit all of those blogs; especially in the case of 700 people following you (If the number is way smaller, there is a chance of you checking out their blog).
Now, in regards to comments, I enjoy leaving valuable comments in the comments threads of my fellow bloggers.
It is not mandatory for others to return to my blog and leave a comment.
We bloggers need to remember, that blogging is not only about publishing blog posts; it also involves interacting with other bloggers.

    1. Thanks, Renard! Appreciate your comment!

I understand that you can’t follow back/comment back on every single blog that visit yours – especially if you’ve got loads of followers!

I’m not there yet (I don’t have a lot of followers) – which means I have a lot of time to at least try to visit everybody that visit me.

I love your last point on interacting with other bloggers as I feel like a lot of people are only focusing on likes, comments, shares and followers on the mass production of blog posts they’re creating!

Now, it’s my time to check out your blog 😉

      Take care, mate!

  2. I honestly started my blog as a space for myself. When I first started blogging if I had a like or a follower, it was exciting but I soon realized it was because they wanted a like or follow in return. I really enjoy when people actually do like or comment when they are inspired by what I write about. I have decided to only comment or follow or even like a post, when I truly have something to say, or truly like it. I feel like there are a few bloggers out there with that same mindset and those are the people I want to interact with!

    1. I agree with everything here and thank you for your comment – glad you had something to say 😉

I feel like I share the same mindset as you and I hope to stay that way!

      Take care!
