Oh god, it has been a long time since I wrote something here – sorry about that, but I needed to find something amazing to write about – now I did!
“Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show”
Finally cleared my mind
Guys, I finally cleared my mind and found my inner traveller again.
In general, I think I spent at least two hours every day looking for flights, hotels and other deals that can take me somewhere new. But this time I really went on intense-mode and decided it was time for some new adventures.
I use Skyscanner, alot. I want to visit every country in Europe, and I don’t care how long it’s going to take, I just know that that is what I want.
My process usually is like this:
- Figure out dates/months/weeks where you can travel
- Figure out how long you can/will travel/how often you want to travel
- Figure out your budget
- Book the flight
Being a full time professional, I have 20 days of vacation each year + the 9 official bank holidays they have in Ireland, giving me 29 days to travel each year.
I’ve made the decision that I would rather travel once for a month for an extended weekend, than once every 3-4-5-6 months for a week. Therefore, I sat down and found one weekend every month for the next 3-4 months, where I wanted to travel – and then I started looking.
Three tickets in two days
Even though I’ve travelled quite a lot, it really came to my attention a couple of weeks ago how much I’m missing – only in Europe. It’s crazy! I haven’t even seen 15% of it. That needed to change.
The result of my panic attack was three flight tickets in two days – with more to come (I just need to calculate the amount of holidays I’ve got left).
On the 23rd to the 25th of September I’m going to Edinburgh, Scotland. It’s not that long, but I’m there in good time.
On the 12th to the 16th of October I’m going back to Denmark for the first time in 5 months. I know, it’s not somewhere new, but I need to visit my home once in a while!
On the 4th to the 7th of November I’m going to Brussels, Belgium. This, without a single clue of what to do. The flight were cheap, the hotel was ok cheap and I’ve never been to Belgium – but that’s going to change after November – and I cannot wait!
Take a chance
Many people says I’m rushing through the countries. Yes, I might. But I’m very fast at figurering out, if a certain place is a place to get back to – if it is, then I can always come back, if not, then I can say that I tried! I took a chance. Sometimes you find new places that you like, even if you don’t know anything about it in advance.
Take a chance. Book that flight. See something new!
