Journey with Junior – who?

Hi guys!

This is my first ever attempt on the blogging lifestyle.
I’ve always wanted to try this and try to put my thoughts into sentences that maybe could inspire other people.

Before we do more, I would like to make this introduction and tell a little bit about myself, what I do, where I’ve been and where I live at the moment.

For those of you who doesn’t know me, my name is Rasmus Bak Kristensen aka Junior. I’m a 24 year old danish guy, who is passioned about a lot, but like many others, have travelling as number the 1 priority.

In my sparetime I play the guitar, try to sing a bit, go to the gym 4-5-6 times a week depending on the hangovers in the weekend and then I’m a constant daydreamer of travelling the world. I’m a sucker for the social life, which means that I sometimes have a hard time saving as much money, as I would like to, but I get by and work hard every day to save up, so I can see more of this wonderful world of ours. Other than that, I’m a massive Manchester United fan and I’m a heavy-user of Instagram – RasmusBak1992.

  Dublin Ireland

I currently work for a company called Infosys BPO with the fancy title of a Process Executive. We work onsite Microsoft Ireland in Dublin 18, Leopardstown and as mentioned, I’ve been here for 3 months and I’m loving it!

  Studies and travelling

Dublin is far from my first destination outside the borders of lovely Denmark.
Back in 2010, I was in London for a short period of time as part of my studies in Denmark. We were there to work and to learn about the “world of the working environment”. Even though I’ve always been a massive fan of travelling, at this time I realized I had to do this more often. So after I finished off my school, finished off my 2-year internship and some changes happened in my life, I decided that I needed to try something else.

It didn’t take me long to figure out what kind of country I wanted to go to. I wanted something warm, something exotic and something totally different from my life long safe haven, Denmark.

Back in November 2013 I decided something new had to happen. I had to see new people, new environments, new challenges and a new country. I had to leave the safe environment of Denmark. Therefore, I went online to search for jobs abroad. Using the website http://www.eures.dk, I had a lot of options.
For some reason, danish people are very popular in other countries.

  Lisbon, Portugal

What could be better? Warmth, good football teams, beaches, cheap lifestyle and totally different from Denmark.
I had a lot of job interview prior to my move to Lisbon. I decided to go for a company called Teleperformance. In Teleperformance, my role was to be a customer care agent for project Hotels.com and Expedia. Taken endless calls from customer either complaining og needing help regarding their upcoming or ended holidays. It was a dead-end job, I must admit and looking back, the only good thing was everything except from the job.

I made some very good friends during my time in Lisbon and I’m very proud of myself for taking that first real step of moving abroad, but I regret the work and having supported that company – a company, that just didn’t fulfil there part of the promises they made, before we came there.

But, beside the work, it was amazing! Amazing people, amazing weather, cheap drinks, great apartment with some good roomies and just an overall great city to live in. We had a great connection internally in the danish team at Teleperformance which made the whole working situation a much better situation.

Unfortunately, I was only there for about 6-7 months before the work turned out to be too much for me. Most of my fellow colleagues were already gone and to be honest, I needed to do something else – again.

Back to Denmark!

I went back to Denmark and started studying again. I had to finish off my diploma, because we really need that to be really successful, right? I spend two years doing this while working as a bartender at The Old Irish Pub, located in Jomfru Ane Gade in my home town, Aalborg.

I saved up money, but once I finished up school, I knew where I was going – somewhere I’d never been before! And that somewhere took me to Dublin, where I’ve been for the past 3 months and hopefully many more to come.

Until next time!

This was a very brief overview of what I’ve been doing for the last 24 years. I will come back stronger in my next post about my forever desire to travel and whatever comes up in my life.

Thank you so much, take care!
